Fascism vs Democracy

Welcome to the end of democracy. We’re here to overthrow it completely. We didn’t get all the way there on January 6th, but we will endeavor to get rid of it.

Jack Posobiec, CPAC 2024.

The forces which now control the Republican party are using Trumpism to permanently destroy our form of government. Ever since California governor Ronald Reagan gave his “Shining City on a Hill” speech at the first Conservative Political Action Conference in 1974, CPAC has been growing in power and influence in the Republican party. CPAC has long been a primary driver behind Republican fascism.

A very large portion of my party really doesn’t believe in the Constitution.

Mitt Romney

Rather than oppose the decades-long conservative slide toward totalitarianism, almost all elected Republicans support it. Power is more important to them than ethics, morals, standards, law, or the Constitution.

What is Fascism?

I have written on fascism many times. The easiest way to educate yourself on this topic would be to click on “Fascism” in the “Tags” section on this page and read few of my posts on the topic. In “10 Tactics of Fascism,” I wrote that “Fascism is a cult of the leader, who promises national restoration” in the face of a supposed threat to the country by various selected minorities.

The irony is that it is always the fascists themselves who are the minority that threaten, and then take over, their country under the guise of “saving” it.

The example of Germany in the 1930s and 40s should be enough to demonstrate this, but there are other examples – from Viktor Orban (Hungary) to Ron DeSantis (Florida).

Fascist violence

Fascism always leads to violence. Fascists always blame some “other” group (Jews, the Roma, LGBTQ people, Immigrants) as the cause of their country’s problems. At first, their accusations cause an increase in hate crimes. Eventually, after they come to power, the prison camps and gas chambers are built.

The Trump people already have plans for the camps.

After we burn that swamp to the ground, we will establish the new American republic on its ashes, and our first order of business will be righteous retribution for those who betrayed America.

Jack Posobiec, CPAC 2024.

Enemies of Democracy

You can not love the United States of America and vote for fascists. The U.S. is more than a geographic place. It is a profound and liberating idea. Our country was founded on the idea that everyone is, or at least should be, equal.

Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.

Abraham Lincoln

A democracy (including a representative democracy, or republic) is based on the idea that the sovereignty (power or authority) rests with the people. The people express their will through elections, and the Constitution guarantees a peaceful transfer of power after an election.

Trumpism, by definition, is an enemy of democracy (and the Constitution) because it is based on undermining the legitimacy of the voting process and denies the peaceful transfer of power. To believe the Big Lie and to support Trump’s attempt to regain power, is to support the overthrow of our Constitutional Republic.

Enabling Fascism in the USA

Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.

George Santayana

Trump is a corrupt, fascist, wannabe dictator. His inner circle is comprised of criminal traitors to the Constitution. Some of them are ignorant buffoons, but others are dangerous psychopaths.

The world has seen this circus before. Unfortunately, instead of recognizing the danger, millions of Americans are blindly supporting the madness.

Any elected Republican, local, state, or national who supports Donald J. Trump is a fascist enabler. Anyone who votes for Trump is voting to eliminate the Constitution and the rule of law and bring fascism to America.

I am not exaggerating. I am not being alarmist. I am simply watching history repeat itself.

Which side are YOU on?

  1. “A democracy, if you can keep it,” Franklin said, at the close of the constitutional convention. It would be tragic and ironic if flag waving, self described patriots replaced that with a Tantrumocracy.

  2. I must say something about the presidential race as pertains to the candidates.
Trump with his invitation to Orban is forming his government now. It will be a dictatorial one with camps and even executions.
Meanwhile President Biden has us in a war in Ukraine which he could have prevented. He gave in to the neocons who want war with Russia and that’s where we are. This could even be nuclear war. Moreover he has enabled Netanyahu’s genocide against the Palestinians. I can’t endorse Biden.

  3. When Gov. Abbott from TX refused to let federal troops enforce policy at the border along a section of the Rio Grande and when other Republican Governors started sending State National Guard troops to support Gov. Abbott instead of the federal government, it was just another indicator of the depth of our problem with the Cult of Personality with Trump. When his platform is whatever he thinks up at the moment and he refuses to honor the Constitution or the obligations this country has made over the years, we have a problem.

  4. What pray tell, is “righteous retribution” for “those who betrayed America.” Who are “those”….the Democrats? The immigrants? This is getting way too difficult for most to understand.

  5. “Any elected Republican, local, state, or national who supports Donald J. Trump is a fascist enabler.”

Utah Senate President Adams and Speaker of the House Schultz are fascist enablers.

Anybody know where our state rep Ballard stands on Trump?

  6. So many people I know who are wild about der Trumpenfuhrer are the very people who have benefited since childhood from programs that would be cancelled, are the decendents of people who would now be illegal aliens, and are married to people who are the non white polluters of “our blood” who would be sent to the ovens and I don’t inderstand it.
