By 2014 … Americans were consuming a total of 10 billion gallons (38 billion liters) of bottled water each year, at a cost of $11.8 billion. Worldwide, people spent over $100 billion on bottled water. The United Nations estimates that if just one-sixth of that money ($15 billion) were spent building wells and water infrastructure, the number of people worldwide without access to clean water could be cut in half.
But, of course, there is no profit in serving poor people….
