There is a growing list of longtime Republican politicians, lawmakers, and pundits who will be voting for Kamala Harris because Trump is dangerous. The following is a list of what some of them have to say:
I don’t believe that we have the luxury of writing in candidates’ names, particularly in swing states. As a conservative, as someone who believes in and cares about the Constitution, I have thought deeply about this. And because of the danger that Donald Trump poses, not only am I not voting for Donald Trump, but I will be voting for Kamala Harris.
–Liz Cheney, former Republican congresswoman (WY)
In our nation’s 248-year history, there has never been an individual who is a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump. He tried to steal the last election using lies and violence to keep himself in power after the voters had rejected him. He can never be trusted with power again. As citizens, we each have a duty to put country above partisanship to defend our Constitution. That is why I will be casting my vote for Vice President Kamala Harris.
– Dick Cheney, former Republican Vice-president
Now more than ever, we need leaders who will put country over party. We can choose a future for our children and grandchildren based on decency, respect and morality, or succumb to the crudeness and vulgarity of Trump and J.D. Vance and the far-right agenda they would champion.
–John Giles, LDS Republican mayor of Mesa, Arizona
Trump has no empathy, no morals and no fidelity to the truth. I love my country more than my party. Kamala Harris tells the truth. She respects the American people and she has my vote.
–Stephanie Grisham, former White House Press Secretary under Trump
Donald Trump is a weak man pretending to be strong. He is a small man pretending to be big. He’s a faithless man pretending to be righteous. He’s a perpetrator who can’t stop playing the victim. He puts on quite a show but there’s no real strength there.
–Adam Kinzinger, former Republican congressman (IL)
I was heartbroken and horrified to see how close we came to losing our democracy on January 6, because of one man – Donald Trump. I’ve seen with my own eyes how Trump’s thirst for power, revenge, and retribution is his real motivation, and that’s why I cannot stand by while he tries to destroy our country.
–Denver Riggleman, former Republican congressman (VA)
I was a proud Republican, but Donald Trump is unfit to lead our nation. We saw during his four years in office how he consistently chose himself, his pursuit of power, and his billionaire friends over the American people while spewing lies and spreading chaos at every turn.
–Christine Todd Whitman, former Republican governor (NJ)

Definitely food for thought, for those willing to have thoughts, rather than ideological knee-jerk dismissals and labeling.
I increasingly revile both of the major parties. Remember Dick Cheney was the author of our disastrous Iraq invasion which cost 100,000’s of lives for no good reason.
A timely quote from Neal A. Maxwell:
When I read theBofM many years ago, I was troubled…that there could occur such marked and quick changes in the spiritual and political conditions of a society as the BofM indicates occurred in the matter of several years… In many ways, things change very slowly, but it is also true that deterioration can be exceedingly rapid under some circumstances… The inner deficiencies of men impact on the quality of our institutions. Like it or not, therefore, one of the messages of the scriptures is that defective personalities project themselves into the affairs of state, and their defects are mirrored iin the politics of their time; and society, in subtle and direct ways, can pay a terrible price! In Doctrine and Covenants 98:10 we read that we should seek out men who are wise, good and honest. When Ii first read these criteria years ago, they seemed quite general to me; they don’t now. Too often leaders can lead men astray because they lack one or more of these qualities. A leader can be bright but dishonest, and a leader can be honest and conceptually inadequate. A man may be a good man and yet lack the wisdom to cope with complex circumstances that can come upon him. This triad of virtues, for me, is a significant guide to selecting future leaders in any representative government. It takes decades to prepare a nation for democracy, as was the case in America, but we could lose it or damage it in a matter of years, if not weeks, depending upon whom we select to lead us..at all levels. From The Lonely Sentinels of Demcracy Neal A. axwell, New Era July 1972
It’s easy to blame both parties. Does that get someone off the hook? NO!
We know we should vote. We know we have choices. We know that realistically one of two individuals will win not any of the myriads of “third party” candidates. So until our democracy changes into a multiparty system, we have two choices. You can blame both for the problems but you have to choose one for the solution. In this election, there is only one choice and it’s not Republican. Sure Dick Cheney may have been someone that we didn’t trust in a past presidency but if he sees the problems with a man like Trump, you know it has to be bad.
Most elections are a choice between bad and less bad. Rarely is it a clear choice between good and evil. But this election it seems very apparent that it’s a choice between good and horrible.
Finally, if your vote reflects your values, what do you value? Leaving all political arguments aside, I see one positive campaign and the other campaign based on negatives, put-downs, insults, misrepresentations, lies, and self-aggrandizement. I’m going to go with positivity and hope not negativity and fear.
