Some people, especially people who consider themselves Christians, are essentially one-issue voters. They may have other concerns such as jobs, health care, and the education of their children, but this one issue, abortion, they consider to be so very serious that they will vote against their own best interests on other issues in order to support candidates who claim they will make abortion illegal.
These good Christians will even support a candidate who is a serial adulterer, a liar, a bully, a braggart, and a thief. A man who has paid prostitutes for their silence and has befriended the enemies of our country. A candidate who never admits wrongdoing and has proudly proclaimed that he has never repented of anything.
It must be very difficult for good Christians to have to support this unrepentant, vile, disgusting man just to protect the unborn. I have good news for these people. We now know how to significantly reduce the number of abortions in the United States. And you will no longer have to vote for distasteful Republicans to accomplish this goal. In fact, voting for Republicans will actually slow down progress toward the goal of zero abortions.
The best way to reduce abortion
It has now been clearly demonstrated in multiple states that the best way to reduce the number of abortions is to provide inexpensive and widespread access to contraception, sex education, women’s health care, child care, and foster care. Democrats have been advocating for these things for decades. As you know, the Republicans have consistently fought against all of these things — thus actually increasing the number of abortions!
Republican politicians don’t understand that abortions will not be stopped by making them illegal. That is a simplistic government-imposed solution to a complex personal situation. The only thing that will stop abortion is to make better options available. Criminalization will just make abortions more dangerous for the women who choose to have them.
Abortion rates drop under Democratic presidents
For the past 40 years, abortion rates have fallen under Democratic presidents and leveled off under Republican presidents. The numbers are very clear. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, abortion rates per every 1,000 women between the ages of 15 and 44 are as follows:
- Reagan (1981-89): 24
- H.W. Bush (1989-93): 24
- Clinton (1993-2001): 16.2
- W. Bush (2001-09): 16
- Obama (2009-17): 12.5 (almost half of what it was under Reagan)
Clearly the best way to reduce the number of abortions in the future is to vote for Joe Biden and the other Democrats on the ballot. It is the only political solution that will make a difference.
There is also an added benefit. Once you make this decision, you will no longer have to ignore your religious beliefs in order to justify your political support for a toxic narcissist. You will find peace in voting for a good, intelligent, compassionate, experienced leader who is also a strong family man and a believing, practicing, Christian.
Please help us keep abortions both safe and rare. Vote for Democrats.

I look at our own state legislature which spends huge amounts of tax dollars trying to push anti abortion laws they know will be and have been struck down by the Supreme Court.
Yet our state legislature and governor along with the current President try to stop the expansion of Medicaid and other social programs like the Affordable Care Act that help the poor including children.
What good is it to say you’re Pro Life yet life seems to have no value after the baby is born ?
Well said, well supported, and timely. And very different than clip I saw of Trump at a rally describing how somewhere, an unnamed couple at an un-named hospital had a baby, wrapped it in a blanket, and then consulted with an un-named doctor about whether to kill it. Real blood curdling stuff, unless you stop to consider that he was deliberately lying to hopefully manipulate outrage.
Somewhat off topic, sorry, but time is short. Donald Trump is attempting to cement his dictatorship and our church is doing NOTHING ABOUT IT!!!! The church puff sheet, the Deseret News, reports nothing of the insane stuff Trump is doing? Why? Why? Why?
